Blessed With Another Year
Birthday's have always been a tough time for me. I always wanted to do an elaborate party or celebration, but never did. I would let the months creep up and continue to think about it, but never act on it. Thus year was different though! After fighting one of the toughest battles of my life I wanted to do something a little different this time. I actually wanted to switch up the tradition a little bit which normally consisted of my mother buying me a cake from Publix. Every year she does this and even though I KNOW she's going to do it - I was still always super surprised about it. This year, after beating Stage 3 Cancer, I reached out to Asha of WorthyCakes! I've been watching her beautiful work and she was also one of my beautiful Brides, so I had to ask her. All I wanted was a simple naked cake, and she surprised the heck out of me! I met her on Wednesday (the day of my birthday) to pick up the cake. I knew it was going to be beautiful, but I didn't know it was going to look like this!
I tried to hold back my tears when I saw it, but I couldn't hold it in! She completely blew me away and I was speechless! Then she said, "I know you like things simple and minimal, but I also know that you are classy....that's what inspired this cake design." To think that that she knew me so well and could express this through art design. Now that's a cake designer and someone that knows her customer well! I brought the cake to my parents house because that's where I was going to celebrate Thanksgiving this year! As soon as my Father saw the cake he said, "Wow, that's too pretty to eat!" We laughed and then I said, "We are definitely eating this!" I agreed with him though. I didn't want to touch the cake at all because it was so pretty. The framing around the photo shocked me too. I didn't want to touch anything, but of course I had to get a bite! We wanted until Thanksgiving dinner....okay, we kind of ate it before dinner (oh well, lol), and it was amazing! Nice and soft! Not too sweet; honestly - it was just right! Apparently my friends and family online agree to and they didn't taste the cake, lol.

I received lots of love from across the globe, tons of text messages, and just love all around! One of my friends event played "Happy Birthday" on their saxophone...okay, don't judge, I don't know which instrument it is. I THINK it's a trumpet now that I'm looking at the video again - either way I loved it!
If you're wondering how I feel, it's very surreal. Again, I didn't think I'd see my birthday this year, so I'm still soaking this in. I want to continue to live my best life, stay positive, and just enjoying my loved ones! What are you thankful for this year?
