Why You Need A Wedding Planner & Why They Need To Be The Right Fit For You

If you think that Wedding Planners or Coordinators are not necessary - think again. One thing that can help you make the most of your day is a Wedding Planner or Coordinator. An experienced and professional wedding planner or coordinator that has several weddings under their belt makes it easier for them to foresee certain things which helps you have an amazing day.  Even if the pictures turn out gorgeous you really don't know what happened behind the scenes unless you experienced it yourself. This is why I am in constant communication with my couples, and it's also why I go over their timeline so we can make the best of their special day.

No wedding is ever perfect.

It's also important to book a professional wedding planner or coordinator that listens to you, knows how to be present, and also knows how to handle changes.

Real Wedding Experience:
During a wedding that I was shooting (at a five-star venue), my Bride found herself scrambling. I was so shocked when I arrived (on the day-of her wedding) because her and I had been talking in advance throughout her planning process and she didn't stress not one bit. I know that wedding day nerves can be a factor, but that wasn't the case. This is where the title portion of "the right fit" comes in to play.

Here's a List of Recommended Wedding Planners:

Why You Need A Wedding Planner & Why They Need To Be The Right Fit For You:

I connected with one of these amazing Wedding Planners (from this list) to help guide you on why you need a planner and why whomever you choose needs to be the right fit. Silvana Castorina of Crystal Ballroom at Veranda shared her expertise with me on  "How A Wedding Planner Helps a Couple" and "How A Wedding Planner Handles Communication With Vendors".:

How does having a Wedding Planner Help the Couple?

Having a "Wedding Planner" or even just a "Wedding Coordinator" is definitely a necessity for your BIG day! Depending on the venue and what it has to offer, the couple should consider either of the two services. Most couples can actually plan their own wedding without seeking any professional help from a Wedding Planner, if the venue of their choice offers an all inclusive packages- like decor! If so, this makes the process even easier for them.

A lot of couples do most of the planning now a days, and I believe it can be a fun process (and cost effective) for them. However, on the day of the wedding, it is highly recommended that the the couple contract a professional Wedding Coordinator to execute all of their hard work and make sure their wedding is running smoothly so they can sit back, enjoy and cherish EVERY minute of their wedding day!

How does a professional Wedding Planner handle communication with your vendors:
(The wedding vendors you've hired)

As a Wedding Coordinator, I ask my clients for all their vendors contact information during our first consultation. I then keep constant communication with all the vendors via email or by phone. Any questions that the vendors may have regarding the venue or event details from that day onwards, I would ask that they reach out to me directly. My best interest are my clients, and there's nothing more that I want then to make this process easy and stress free for them both! â€‹

Why You Need A Wedding Planner

Having A Wedding Without A Professional Planner

Hiring a professional wedding planner or an experienced day of coordinator, ensures the bride that there is someone on her side making sure all of her T's are crossed and her I's are dotted. Not only can a wedding planner help eliminate the stress of planning before the wedding, they can also make sure that on the day of, there is someone there who is overseeing even the smallest of details like; vendor load-ins, linen orders, timing for speeches, toasts and decor details.

Every bride wants to be a part of the planning process in some regard, but when it comes to the stress of executing the day vs. being a part and experiencing their wedding day, each bride should be able to hand off the timeline and the worries to their planner. They should be able to entrust their vision with a planner that will confidently take over all responsibility on the wedding day.

When an executive decision needs to be made or something happens and changes need to be made quickly, an experienced planner will be able to make the call that the bride would make without having to bother the couple with any stress because they should know the vision of their couple.

Note: I loved talking about this with Cherish Events.

Wedding Timeline: Your Time - From The Photographer

On a wedding day, time goes by so fast that you don't even realize you're already in the Reception. For this main reason, I love working with Wedding Coordinators/Planners like Silvana Castorina, Jaclyn Fraser, and others listed on the above listed provided to you because she makes sure my couples get the most of their time. As a former nurse, time management is a huge task that you're taught early on. It's one of the biggest reasons why nurses can multi-task and people don't even realize it. This is why I'm not ashamed to share that I come from a nursing background.

When I first worked with Silvana, it was her focus and professionalism that hooked me. She contacts all of the vendors within a timely manner, and always provides us with more than enough information. She's also open to feedback about the timeline suggestions when it comes to moving things around so the couple doesn't miss a moment.

The reason why I am sharing this is because sometimes I will look at a timeline (that the couple gave the Wedding Coordinator) and notice a gap that can potentially cause a loss of time on their special day. Not only does Silvana keep us informed, but she always makes sure that she communicates any changes while on location as needed. You'd be surprised how many stories I hear about vendors not being informed of important day-of details, special exits, family tributes and more.

Again, if you think that Wedding Planners or Coordinators are not necessary - think again. One thing that can help you make the most of your day is a Wedding Planner or Coordinator. An experienced and professional wedding planner or coordinator that has several weddings under their belt makes it easier for them to foresee certain things which helps you have an amazing day.
